Renting of Historic Spaces

Renting of Historic spaces within Galle Fort (Lower terrace of Sun, Moon, Star, and Black Fort Bastions)

To offer the experience of using historic spaces within the Galle Fort, the Galle Heritage Foundation rent out the spaces such as the lower terraces of the Moon Bastion, Sun Bastion, Star Bastion and the Black Fort Bastion for limited public and private functions (such as for heritage tourism programs, classical musical programs etc.) on request. Please contact the office of the Galle Heritage Foundation for more details.

The general conditions and the rates for renting are as follows:

  • Lower terrace of Sun, Moon, Star, and Black Fort Bastions within the Galle Fort are being rented for heritage tourism promotion programs.

  • Only the lower terrace of the Moon Bastion is being rented for classical music events.

  • Prior approval from the Department of Archaeology must be obtained before completing the Galle Heritage Foundation's application form for conducting heritage tourism promotional programs and classical music events. Therefore, request letter and proposal of the event must be submitted to the Galle Heritage Foundation at least three weeks prior to the proposed date of the event.

  • The relevant application form for the proposed program, as mentioned on the website, must be properly completed and submitted to us along with the copy of the approval letter issued by the Department of Archaeology

  • Payments related to venue/ location fees are as follows:

  • The venue/location must be reserved by paying an advance payment at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date of the event.

  • After completing the payment, the event organizers are required to sign a condition sheet issued by the Galle Heritage Foundation.

  • Payment of the venue fee does not exempt the organizer from paying any other charges, levies, or entertainment taxes due to other government institutions.
